Brief Bio
Rashid Mehmood is the Research Professor of Big Data Systems and the Director of Research, Training, and Consultancy at the High Performance Computing Centre, King Abdulaziz University, Saudi Arabia. He has gained qualifications and academic work experience from universities in the UK including Swansea, Cambridge, Birmingham, and Oxford. Rashid has over 20 years of research experience in computational modelling and simulation systems coupled with his expertise in high performance computing. His broad research aim is to develop multi-disciplinary science and technology to enable a better quality of life and Smart Economy with a focus on real-time intelligence and dynamic system management. He has published over 150 research papers including 4 edited books.

Brief Bio
Adel Alkhalil has received his PhD from Bournemouth University. He is currently working as an assistant professor in the department of computer science and software engineering. Adel’s research interest includes the migration of legacy systems to new computing paradigms. Adel’s research is focused on the migration to cloud computing, mobile computing and the integration of mobile computing and IoT services.

Aakash Ahmad is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Software Engineering at the College of Computer Science and Engineering, University of Ha’il, KSA. Aakash’s professional experience working as a software engineer and researcher includes post-doctoral fellowship, software consultancy and software development on a variety of projects. Aakash’s research interests include software engineering and architecting for mobile cloud computing systems.


Internet of Things (IoTs) have emerged as a disruptive technology and an enabling platform to interconnect humans, systems, services, devices and thing. To support the IoTs vision; a number of challenges exist in terms of engineering and development of systems that rely on software, platform, and infrastructure level support (offered by cloud computing) to develop, evolve and operate IoT solutions. Engineering the cloud-based software services can support a seamless integration between the hardware, software, and networking technologies to enable an internet of portable and context-aware devices and things. The scope of the proposed workshop (SE for Cloud IoTs) is to consolidate the research and development efforts that exploit Software Engineering principle and practices to address the challenges of Cloud-based IoTs.

The topics of interest includes (but not limited) to the following. In particular, the call for workshop papers aims to attract academic or industrial research studies that focus on addressing the software engineering aspects of the cloud-based IoT systems with focus on the following.
